Texas Guardianship Association

Educating. Promoting. Advocating.

About TGA

The Texas Guardianship Association is a professional non-profit organization dedicated to educating professional, family, and volunteer guardians as well as legislators and the general public on ethics, standards and best practices related to court-appointed guardianships in Texas.

TGA is also committed to identifying and implementing less restrictive alternatives to guardianship and reliance on community supports and services whenever feasible. TGA strives to enrich the lives of those protected by guardianship as well as those who are responsible for the protection of others.

The History of the Texas Guardianship Association

Texas Guardianship Association (TGA) was formed in the fall of 1992 in order to promote communication and cooperation among individuals, organizations, agencies and courts concerned with guardianship and its alternatives.

Our Mission

  • Educating involved professionals, consumers and the general public regarding guardianship and its alternatives.
  • Promoting the development of guardianship and alternative programs to serve and protect vulnerable individuals.
  • Advocating for development and implementation of effective public policy regarding guardianship and related issues that are consumer sensitive.
TGA expresses its thanks to the following members who contributed to the design of this website: Misti Hill Carter, Brett Charles, Claudia Gonzalez, Terry Hammond, Dyann McCully, Anna Nava, Marie Rodriguez, Inez Russell, and Greg Shannon. This website was funded, in part, by monetary contributions made by Terry Hammond, Dyann McCully, Anna Nava, and Greg Shannon, and by the members of the Texas Guardianship Association.
TGA is an affiliate of the National Guardianship Association

TGA does not provide legal advice about specific cases or legal opinions about how to obtain a guardianship. TGA has provided links to various national and state organizations, associations and entities to assist in resolving inquiries unrelated to TGA membership issues.
